1 - Click on “Go” in the Menu Bar.
1 - Click on “Go” in the Menu Bar.
2 - Click on “Utilities”.
3 - Locate “Disk Utility”, Press and hold your pointer down and slide it up. As you slide it, a “ghost” image will appear. (3a) Release the application icon over the Tool Bar.
4 - I dragged mine towards the right side. You should now see an icon for the “Disk Utility” application in the Tool Bar. It will show up in any finder window you open. Always a ready reminder to repair Disk Utilities on a regular basis.
You can put an icon on the Tool Bar for quick access to any application. Obviously you would normally just put them on the Dock, but what if you don’t want to have the app on your dock? A good example would be Disk Utilities. This application is used to Repair Disk Permissions which is something you should be doing regularly, (see steps here). Putting an icon of the application into the finder window helps me remember. It will show up on all Finder windows.
How to put an Application Icon into the Finder Window’s Tool Bar.
Note: You can use this method to put any application’s icon on the Tool Bar, but then, that’s what the “Dock” is for. Since there is limited space, I just use it for the Disk Utility application as a constant reminder.
